Wish # 1063 - Love for Logan

1063_edited.jpg
Logan is a 5-year-old, adorable, active boy with moderate to severe eye impairments. He loves playing sports. Having sport prescription eyeglasses/goggles will allow him to be involved in athletic activities and live a relatively normal life while enjoying a sport. HUGS provided the family a VISA gift card to cover the cost of his sports eyewear, plus a little extra to go toward any gear he might need. Logan has a two year old brother and a five month old baby brother, who are just as adorable as he is!

Wish #1101 - Partnering with
Pink Heals Joliet Chapter

Bobbi is battling breast cancer and wanted a wish of family time. With the help of a friend of one of our wish committee members and a very generous anonymous contributor through the Joliet Slammers, we were able to gift season tickets for the entire family. Hugs also provided a Visa card for food and merchandise to enjoy at the games. The icing on the cake was being able to partner with Pink Heals Joliet Chapter on the surprise visit to her house to deliver the wish, which by the way was one of Pink Heals largest visits to-date.

Supporting our Community

We are always looking forward to giving
back and supporting our community, from meals for medical and hospital personnel, participating in Team Nicholas Trivia Night, supporting the Plainfield Junior Women's Club Clues for A Cause after-party, to supporting the Habitat for Humanity Women Who Build project, passing out food at a Northern Illinois Food Bank pop up market, annual fundraising and participation at Relay for Life, volunteering for and a recipient of the annual Will County Brew Run, and so much more .... We so appreciate the continued support and recognition of our community!!
What a fun day supporting the 2023 Joliet ReStore Habitat for Humanity Homes for Hounds event! This year's entry was a 'Nashville Nights' themed whiskey barrel indoor doghouse and was the winner of the Judges Choice Indoor Doghouse category. The doghouse will be donated to the 2024 Shorewood Hugs Chocolate Ball where it will be a silent auction item.

Wish # 1070 - Grandparents Love

These lovely grandparents lost their beautiful daughter Crystal to cancer.
They are now raising their cute 10-year-old granddaughter, who is a fashionista. We gifted her gift cards to shop for summer and school clothes and her grandparents were given gift cards to their favorite restaurants.  This family is so loving and appreciative!

Our Founders

Celebrating 15 Years in 2022!

Shorewood Hugs celebrated it's 15th Year in 2022! We honor and celebrate our Founders for the vision they had sitting around a kitchen table wanting to find a way to give back to our community! No one dreamed how this organization would grow and the ways we are able to give back and support our community!

If you don't know them, meet the women who started it all. Laura Charland, Lorayne Wright, Sue Coyle, Rita Guenther and Heidi Serena.

Junior HUGS

It’s been over a year since we’ve been able to do any in person volunteering. It was so wonderful to take a group of our senior Junior HUGS members to pack food at Feed My Starving Children! These girls are amazing and truly enjoy community service. We are so proud of them and all that they have accomplished at such young ages.
Sending big HUGS to all of you as you finish your high school years and head off to college.
